Production Supervisor ( Mechanic)
Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership while respecting Artmetco’s vision and values;
- Manage employee workload and performance, ensuring their individual development and motivation;
- Inspect products made by employees using various measuring instruments and collaborate with the Quality department;
- Check the quantity and quality of production;
- Organize the coordination of activities between units;
- Monitor and control assembled parts to prevent non-conformities according to work plans;
- Ensure adherence to and maintenance of production standards (make sure production times are accurate);
- Be able to work under pressure and engage your team to meet tight deadlines;
- Ensure that all parts orders are prepared, received, and entered into the system by the warehouse staff;
- Ensure continuous improvement of activities;
- Coach your team to develop talent within the organization;
- Identify, document, and standardize key processes leading to the achievement of objectives;
- Optimize knowledge sharing and best practices within the organization;
- Assess employee development and training needs and ensure they are trained;
- Participate in production meetings;
- Ensure your team follows company policies and regulations;
- Effectively communicate key organizational messages to your team;
- Implement and maintain the 5S methodology to improve the work environment;
- Check and enter employees’ time punches into the system;
- Ensure that all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is worn at all times;
- Monitor employee attendance;
- Discipline employees using Human Resources resources;
- Work collaboratively with the Quality and Engineering departments; and
- Perform any other related tasks.
Requirements:
- 3 to 5 years of experience in a supervisory role in a unionized environment;
- Experience in the metal industry (an asset);
- DEC or Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management and/or other related fields and/or relevant experience;
Skills:
- Knowledge of production processes: bending, welding, CNC, etc. (an asset);
- Planning and production skills;
- Knowledge of ISO-9001 quality standards;
- Management/leadership skills;
- Analytical ability;
- Bilingualism in English and French to communicate with employees.
